The Story Behind the PRAY Billboard Mission:  

“PRAY - TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE” 

Hello, my name is Lisa Young, founder and servant of People for CHRIST.org and the heart behind the PRAY Billboard Mission. For over 40 years, my husband and I have called the small town of Martinsville, Indiana our home. I’m a devoted wife, a proud mother of three, and a grandmother of two. I now dedicate all my time to spreading the LIGHT of JESUS CHRIST — and that journey began with a miracle. 

In 1990, my life was forever changed by a horrific car accident. I crashed head-on into a 100-foot guardrail. My pelvis was shattered, my leg nearly severed, and my life hung by a thread. I was life-lined to the hospital where doctors told my husband I wouldn’t survive the night. 

But GOD had other plans. 

Amid unbearable pain, I remember praying, “LORD, please let me live long enough to raise my children.” I could feel the life blood draining from me — and yet, I was filled with peace. JESUS was right there with me. He saved my life. Though I now live with permanent disabilities, I was given the strength to complete my first earthly mission: raising my family. 

Looking back, I realize that had I died that night, I would have gone to hell. I wasn’t ready for eternity. That truth changed everything. 

Fast forward to 2020, during the COVID lockdowns. I was deeply troubled by the darkness and fear I saw rising all around us. One day, I cried out to GOD: “You must do something!” And in that moment, the HOLY SPIRIT spoke boldly: "I'VE GOT THIS, YOU NEED TO CONCENTRATE ON SAVING SOULS.”  I asked how and the reply was, “BILLBOARDS”.  I asked what HE wanted on the Billboards, and HE said, “PRAY, TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE."  That was the beginning of the PRAY Billboard Mission.

With no funding and no supporters, GOD opened the door. Since then, People for CHRIST-PRAY Billboard mission has placed over 120 PRAY billboards across 17 states — reaching more than 3.6 million drivers. If there are two people in every car, that outreach doubles. Now I understand why the LORD said: “Billboards.” 

These billboards are simple, powerful reminders for travelers, families, and entire communities to turn their hearts to JESUS. In a world filled with fear and confusion, they point to the only true source of FAITH, HOPE, and LOVE: Salvation in CHRIST.
